"I work on different types of litigation, including cases with damages and complex financial analysis that draw on my skills as a CPA."

Laura Boothman Stamm, Managing Principal

Path leading to Analysis Group

After completing business school, I worked for an accounting firm in the bankruptcy and restructuring practice. Doing that work, I gained good experience in financial statement analysis and financial modeling; but in those turnaround situations, there was never enough time to really dig in and do a thorough analysis. Somewhat by chance I was staffed on a litigation project, and I loved the combination of analytical rigor with real time applicability and knew I wanted to focus my work in that area.

Analysis Group provided the opportunity to concentrate on litigation matters which the accounting firm could not. Some of my business school classmates worked at Analysis Group and spoke very highly of the firm, so joining was an easy decision and for me, a natural fit.

On testifying and recent work

I work on different types of litigation, but tend to be involved with cases involving damages because they involve complex financial analysis, where I draw on my skills in accounting and as a CPA. I love this business because I find myself always broadening my skill set to cover something new and timely. I often work on high-profile, in-the-news cases, sometimes involving criminal and SEC investigations. I enjoy testifying because it gives me the opportunity to both educate and persuade.

Advice for new consultants

I'd advise newcomers to learn as much as they can from their colleagues. There is such a great diversity of talent and experience here, and the range of possibilities open to anyone starting out at the company is enormous. People here have a lot of control to shape their own careers at Analysis Group – a tremendous benefit when first entering a field that contains so many possibilities.

Outside of the office

In the summer, I enjoy golfing and gardening. In the winter, I enjoy traveling.
