Susan Tierney Addresses National Electricity Forum

February 23, 2010

Speaking at the National Electricity Forum in Washington, D.C. on February 17, 2010, Managing Principal Susan Tierney joined a panel of policymakers in suggesting that energy efficiency initiatives championed by consumers may be more effective than those imposed by government or industry. As reported in Platt’s Electric Power Daily (February 18, 2010), Dr. Tierney noted that even in the midst of government and industry aspirations for adding renewable resources and developing a smarter power grid, there are limits to what individual states can accomplish. Giving nationwide consumers more choices in how they use energy, so that they focus on their overall energy costs instead of specific commodity rates, will lead to greater acceptance of measures to promote dynamic pricing, energy efficiency, and other initiatives, she said.
